Google have come to the last straw with China and may pull out due to the constant restraints set by the country. But Chinese people have already got a replacement lined up, Goojje launched on January 14^th this year.

Goojje has a search engine and provides social networking services. It also has a Google-styled logo in it’s homepage. The name, Goojje, was chosen by the new search engine due to it’s play on words. The final syllable “jje” sounds like the Chinese word “older sister,” while the “gle” syllable of “Google” is pronounced like the Chinese word for “older brother”.

It’s funny how Goojje was launched just as Google gets hit with massive restraints and sophisticated hacking. Conspiracy?

If it’s not enough for Google to dominate the Internet, it has gone and got word of the decade as well as voted by the American Dialect Society (ADS).
In its annual Word of the Year vote, the society said the use of the word Google, meaning “to search the Internet”, came because almost everybody on the planet uses the term.
Other finalists included “9/11”, “Facebook”, “blog”, “text”, “Wi-Fi” and “war on terror”. But none quite had the Google effect.
The 119 year-old society confirmed members include linguists, lexicographers, grammarians, historians, researchers, writers, authors, editors, university students, and independent scholars.
“In conducting the vote, they act in fun and do not pretend to be officially inducting words into the English language,” it added.
But one thing all these geeky people know is Google is the word!

Google was taken to court as it infringed copyright and was ordered to pay £9,000 per day until it removes extracts of a French book from its online database. A judge also ordered the Internet giant to pay £266,000 in damages and interest to publishing company La Martiniere, which brought the case on behalf of the industry.
Serge Eyrolles, president of Syndicat National de l’Edition confirms, “It shows Google that they are not the kings of the world and they can’t do whatever they want,”. He also said Google had scanned 100,000 French books into its database – 80% of which were under copyright.
Just as we all thought Google was unbreakable, this law suite proves they are not and many more cases will probably appear in the future.

It is simply incredible regarding the amount of press this naughty billionaire playboy has got over the past few weeks. All the porn stars and waitresses across America are coming out of the woodwork to claim their affair with the Tame Tiger. But if it’s not advertising pull-outs and serious family and press issues, it’s a new game in honour of the infamous Tiger Woods Car Crash.  Tiger Woods Wife Outrun is a game where his wife goes Tiger Hunting with a golf-club and you as the driver must avoid any obstacles, such a fire hydrants! At the end of the game the angry and scorned wife smashes the car and Tiger up big time. Sounds like a good game to me, my turn to beat the Tiger.

I am a new user in StumbleUpon. In reality I don’t even know what exactly is all about. While I was trying to figure out I came across this page – StumbleUpon Suggested Topics. I don’t quite understand why I’ve been suggested GUNS as a topic I’m interested in. Come on SU, GUNS?? it that a bloody joke?

This week I’ve been searching for the most stupid ‘if 1,000 people join i’ll…’ groups. It’s funny how people join such ridiculous groups, what’s the point? Here’s what people have been joining this week;

1.    If 1,000 people join I will shave a Gypies pubes and stick them on my face – that’s just plain nasty, but over 300 people want to see it happen !

2.    If 1,000 people join, nothing happens!!! – Now wonder there’s only 15 members!

3.    If 1,000 People Join I’ll Have A Picture Of My Shit As My Profile Pic – Again, another nasty group, why???

4.    If 1,000 feeble minded idiots join I’ll offer my 1stborn as human sacrifice – This guy wanted to see how many idiots joined, I think the only idiot is him!

According to the National Literacy Trust’s study, half of children (49%) believe that writing is “boring”. They would prefer to network online by messaging, commenting and writing blogs on sites such as Facebook and Bebo. I honestly don’t think that this will improve the spelling of children, in fact it will no doubt make it worse. People who use networking websites often write in text form, shortening words, so how can that improve they’re writing?
Yes, kids may want to write more as they are networking with friends but we’ve all done it and sent emails and mistakenly wrote the words ‘wanna’ or ‘thanx’. My friend at Uni even found that during her essay feedback she has used the word ‘gonna’ more than a handful of times. So, kids take a little break now and again and look at a book called a Dictionary to refresh your spelling memory.

I like both artists but this video seems wrong, it seems B is trying to be a bit ‘hoochie’ and it doesn’t suit her at all. The Gaga is herself as usual, mad as ever, but I have to agree with comment number 2 haha.

A very naughty editor on Wikipedia is about to get into some serious trouble. A mother trying to discover a blackmailer who posted details about her child on Wikipedia has won the right to find out who edited her entry. A High Court judge has ordered the online encyclopedia’s parent company to disclose the IP address of one of its registered users.
This is quite scary, a blackmailing Wikipedia editor going on an Internet rampage. I love Wikipedia but some editors are a bit…weird a bit like those overly helpful and partially annoying librarians. The editor must have disclosed some seriously harmful comments for the women to want to take him to court. I just hope they find the little edit blackmailer before he strikes again.

Google may start charging to watch full-length programmes on Youtube, going into an internet war with iTunes. In order to reach there ‘huge profit potential’, Google may stream the programmes we love the day after transmission. I’m not happy with this because I have been a Youtube subscriber for a long time and feel it will get taken over with these full-length programmes.  Isn’t Youtube a place for amateur and professional filmmakers, comedians and teenagers with problems to live together in harmony? I think it is a great idea to incorporate new features but at a price, I’m not sure.

The press are calling Google a vampire for sharing news articles with us, the web public, for free and in turn they are losing out on traction to their websites. However, maybe Google should be noted as the Robin Hood of the net, taking the news stories we want to see and giving them to us with ease. I believe more people will read the stories from seeing them on Google, more so than on the news websites themselves. But I can understand the press frustration, Google is a huge entity and is clearly taking over the Internet but can anyone stop them?

The Vatican released a playlist to Myspace Music recently and two things intrigued me. Why are the Vatican interested in Myspace Music and why would the pope listen to Tupac? I mean, Tupac is one of my favourite artists but the Pope and Tupac seem like oil and water-they don’t mix or at least they shouldn’t. Within the playlist there is also Muse and Shirley Bassey, maybe it was a playlist they thought would get attention and get down with the ‘people’ and it certainly has worked. I stumbled along a website called TheTextPage.com, which looks quite weird and uncommon amongst the majority of websites we see online. It’s full of colourful text and was created by an MBA student who didn’t have any money to pay his University fees. It’s funny because if you would have asked me If I think this idea could make more than $1, I’d probably just laugh and say ‘Hell NO’! But it has actually gained him over $28,000! I think it’s because it’s not only a quirky, fun and honest website but the guy is actually very intelligent and has established Pay Per character Advertising, which is very beneficial for search engine optimization. I think Google will want to get his number hah. Step2Reality TV has been following the story since the start and a documentary will be broadcasted in 2010. You can watch the trailer here:

So, I go onto Facebook happy as could be, see that I have a Notification, click on it and this is what I saw: ‘Would you cry is “Liana” died?’.

2-    The girl who did it was from my school days and we may have spoken twice in the 5 years we took classes together.

I just don’t get the stupid apps I see on there, why are people even doing it? Why did she do it? I didn’t look at the answer but hope that she did say yes, but then do I actually care? No, not really but I don’t want to see death as the first thing on my Facebook. So, please Facebook enough with the stupid apps.

We all been on twitter not for a long time but it wasn’t too difficult to notice some things and talk about them. You must have noticed or heard about a new scam that goes on, particularly on twitter. They usually go somewhat like this:

That sounds like “Do NOT Let the Dentist Fool You!! Let US Fool You!” Thousands of moms around the world  discovered, the same time, a new whitening teeth trick. Hell yeah , they did, and so can I. If you want teeth whitening under $5 go get yourself a brush and some white paint.

A few days ago Google banned all scammy advertisements about teeth whitening. Good Job, but what is gonna happen with other websites like twitter, twitpic and facebook? If they don’t promote a safer web why would I click to their advertisements anyway? Does that have an implication on how advertising is perceived in social networking sites? I think it does
